With 6 Grand Prix wins and 12 podiums between them, Alan Jones and Carlos Reutemann took the Williams-Ford team to the 1980 Constructor's title with a clear margin over second placed Ligier-Ford. Staggered one-by-one starting grids were adopted. Due to politics, the Spanish Grand Prix was removed from the F1 season, which was won by Alan Jones. Patrick Depailler was killed during testing for the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim.
