Jackie Stewart drove the Tyrrell 003-Ford in 1971 winning 6 Grand Prix:- Spain, Monaco, France, Britain, Germany and Canada.

Together with his team mate Francois Cevert, who won the United States Grand Prix, they had 7 victories in the 11 round championship winning the Constructor's Championship.

Jackie Stewart went on to win the 1971 World Driver's Championship after 8 rounds from runner up Ronnie Peterson who finished the season 29 points adrift.

Paul Ricard hosted the French Grand Prix for the first time on the 4th July 1971.

Pedro Rodriguez was killed on 11th July 1971 in a sports car race at the Norisring.

Jo Siffert was killed on 24th October 1971 in a non championship F1 race at Brands Hatch.

Jo Bonnier retired from F1 in 1971 but was killed at Le Mans in June 1972.
