			Jacques Villeneuve drove the Williams FW19 in 1997 winning 7 Grand Prix:- Brazilian, Argentinian, Spanish, British, Hungarian, Austrian & Luxembour GP's. Points for the 17 round season were awarded from all the races. With 10 points for a win, 6 for second, 4 for third & 3 for 4th, 1 for 6th, Jacques Villeneuve scored:- (10+10+10+3+10+10+2+2+10+10+4) = 81 Points. Jacques Villeneuve won the 1997 Driver's World Championship at the European Grand Prix, the final round of the season. Michael Schumacher needed to beat Jacques Villenueve to claim the title so when Villeneuve overtook him on a slow rght hander, Schumacher deliberately rammed him but ended up in the gravel and out of the race.

Williams win their 100th Grand Prix with Villeneuve's win at Silverstone. Ralf Schumacher celebrated his first podium at Argentina finishing 3rd for Jordan.
